How a coffee shop idea became Aroma Abyssinia.
Aroma Abyssinia is a small-batch coffee company focused on Ethiopian coffee. We share where each coffee comes from, how it is processed, and what to expect in the cup.
It started with a simple craving.
I wanted to own a coffee shop. Not just any coffee shop but the kind with a reading corner, where the chairs are a little worn in and nobody rushes you out the door. That was the dream I could picture clearly.

It started with a simple craving: I wanted to own a coffee shop. Not just any coffee shop but the kind with a reading corner, where the chairs are a little worn in and nobody rushes you out the door. That was the dream I could picture clearly.
When I shared that dream with my husband, Asu, it became his too. He's a coffee lover through and through, and together, we began the work of bringing an exceptional cup to your table.
But the more we sat with that dream, the more curious we got about what was actually in the cup. We started reading about coffee. The chemistry of extraction, why altitude changes flavor, what "washed" versus "natural" processing actually does to a bean. We fell down that rabbit hole and never quite climbed back out.
Somewhere in all that learning, we kept circling back to Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee itself. And we realized the story we actually wanted to tell wasn't just about coffee. It was about home. About the washing stations tucked into hillsides, the hands that pick and sort each cherry, a heritage that the rest of the world drinks every morning without ever knowing its name.
That's how Aroma Abyssinia was born, not as a shop we'd planned, but as a way to bring that story to your cup.
We roast each coffee to suit its flavor.
Roast time and development are adjusted for each coffee. The goal is a fresh, balanced cup that still tastes like the coffee itself.
